Pastor Russell Mckinney has been an ordained pastor since 1993. Prior to becoming the pastor of Roan Mountain Baptist Church in July of 2019, he served tenures as the pastor of Mckinney Cove Baptist Church (Bakersville, NC), Ledger Baptist Church (Bakersville, NC), Disciples Road Church (Spruce Pine, NC), and Oak Grove Baptist Church (Nebo. NC). He is the author of the book “Straight Talk About God’s Will” and also writes the blog “The Disciples Road.” He and his wife, Tonya, were married on June 25, 1994. They have two sons: Ryan (born June 17, 1997) and Royce (born Dec. 21, 2000). The couple resides in the English Woods area of Spruce Pine, NC.

Rebecca Mckinney has been the church secretary at Roan Mountain Baptist Church since 2000. She was raised in Toecane Baptist Church, where she came to know Christ as Savior. She and her husband Kevin were married on June 9, 1979. They live in the Cane Creek community just outside Bakersville. They have one daughter, Stacie, who is married to Marty Johnson. Marty and Stacie live in North Wilkesboro, NC, and have two children: Elizabeth and Zeb.
